Want vanuit de auto kunnen we nog wel genoeg bekijken. Het is wel een flinke rit van een paar uur heen, maar we hebben geen haast. Dan beginnen we langzaam te slingeren omhoog, naar de Grossglockner-pas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mooie omgeving en mooi weer. veel slingeren komen we op een parkeerplaats. Daar de beentjes strekken. Met de drone alvast even gespiekt en het uitzicht is goed genoeg om alle trappen die er voor beklommen moeten worden te beklimmen. Dat is een flink eindje lopen van de weg en het begint al laat te worden. gedoe. Bij de afdaling van de Grossglockner gaat het handrem-icoontje in het dashboard branden en beginnen we de remmen te ruiken. Aanvankelijk denken we dat het een blokkerende handrem is. Het euvel is namelijk gemakkelijk te verhelpen als we &#8211; vraag me niet hoe we dat telkens gedaan hebben &#8211; even op de weg keren en weer een klein stukje omhoog rijden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Grossglockner top of pas by drone\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fDzg6OZW-5A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Even verderop en na wat speurwerk op internet komen we er achter dat dit lampje ook kan betekenen dat je te weinig remvloeistof hebt. Geen lekkere timing, zo bovenaan  de Grossglockner met nog een eindeloos stuk te dalen met een enorme hellingshoek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heel bemoedigend staan ook overal langs de kant van de weg borden met de vraag of je remmen wel in orde zijn. Nee, maar wat doe je er aan?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We besluiten om dan maar langzaam aan de berg af te zakken, rijdend in de 1e versnelling om maximaal op de motor te remmen en de rest bij remmend en om de zoveel bochten weer even de remmen laten afkoelen in een parkeervak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dit schiet zo natuurlijk totaal niet op, maar ja, wat moeten we anders? Als we hier door de remmen heen trappen, zijn we naar onze zin wat te snel beneden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uiteindelijk komen we einde schemering veilig beneden aan. Wat een opluchting. We proberen bij meerdere pompstations remvloeistof te scoren, maar zonder succes. Pas 20 kilometer verderop bij een wat groter dorp met een groter pompstation weten we te slagen. Daar scoren we gelijk ook maar wat eten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In het donker rijden we nog een stukje verder, maar de weg is een stuk kleiner en slingert een stuk meer dan we verwacht hadden. Ook lijken er niet veel accommodaties te zijn in de buurt van de weg. We vinden een plek waar we mogen staan die &#8211; blijkt achteraf &#8211; vooral door mountainbikers gebruikt wordt die met een skilift omhoog gaan om dan naar beneden te crossen op de fiets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ondanks de poging van wat Duitsers een ruimere plek te claimen door een tafel snel in de weg te zetten weten we een van de laatste plekjes te bemachtigen. Het is geen ideale plek, maar het volstaat voor de nacht. En na alle spanning bij het berg af rijden met discutabele remmen zijn we best wel moe, dus slapen we snel en merken we weinig van de overige aanwezigen op de camping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8217;s ochtends wakker geworden met een toch nog wel redelijk pijnlijke voet.
